An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy and friendly Press team at Breast Cancer Care. You’ll be responsible for devising creative and dynamic PR strategies to influence and inform target audiences and decision-makers. You’ll be focused on securing media coverage through compelling news stories, expert commentary, case study features, and responding to the external news agenda to promote our vital services, policy-led campaigns, and importantly, raise Breast Cancer Care’s profile. The post is part of a six-strong Press team comprising two managers, three officers and a cross-team assistant. Importantly you’ll work collaboratively with them and colleagues in Services, Policy & Campaigns, as well as our Clinical team.
You will be a proactive self-starter with experience in a Press Office, newsroom or PR agency together with an excellent understanding of the way the media works at national, broadcast, regional and consumer levels. You’ll be a newshound by nature; have an eye for a great story, and creatively maximise on storytelling and news opportunities, proactively and reactively. Excellent writing, planning and interpersonal skills; the ability to manage multiple and complex projects, prioritise your workload to meet tight deadlines is essential. A proven track record of media successes is paramount.
